Under the federal No Surprises Act (effective January 1, 2022), health care providers are required to give clients who don't have insurance — or who choose not to use it — an estimate of the expected cost of care, in writing, before services begin.
What that means here
- Counseling sessions at Morning Light Counseling are $125 per session for self-pay clients. There are no hidden fees, and you'll never be billed for something we haven't discussed.
- If you are uninsured or choose to pay out of pocket, you will receive a written Good Faith Estimate of expected charges before your first session, and any time you request one.
- You can ask for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule anything — just ask when you reach out.
Your protections
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute it. Make sure to save a copy or a picture of your estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises (opens in a new tab) or call 1-800-985-3059.
Questions about cost
Money questions are welcome here — they're a normal part of deciding whether counseling fits your life right now. Call (717) 807-5999 or email billy@morninglightcounselingservices.com and ask anything.
